Fortune, McCarthy withdraw from Nations Cup qualifier

JOHANNESBURG – England-based pair Quinton Fortune and Benni McCarthy have withdrawn from the South African squad for Saturday’s African Nations Cup qualifier against Congo, officials said yesterday.

Fortune suffered an ankle injury in only his second appearance for Bolton Wanderers last week while McCarthy has cited personal commitments for his decision to withdraw.
