Former RP leader joins DTA

THE former acting youth leader of the Republican Party, Ignatius Semba, has joined the DTA.

‘I resigned from the RP earlier this month together with a group of other young people and we all have officially joined the DTA,’ Semba told a press conference yesterday.Windhoek RP City Councillor Nico Smit quit last month, followed by Keetmanshoop Town Councillor Pieter Visser, Aranos RP Chairman De Lange Kotze and former Hardap Regional Governor Pieter Boltman. Daan Holtzhausen resigned as Executive Committee Chairman and RP Chairman at the same time, but remained an ordinary member of the party. However, last week he announced that he too had resigned from the RP and joined the DTA.Leadership differences and allegations of mismanagement against party President Henk Mudge were cited as reasons by those who left the RP.Both DTA Chairman Johan de Waal and the party’s Secretary General, McHenry Venaani, welcomed Semba yesterday.
