Fight the good fight, urges Fluksman

THE outgoing Regional Councillor for Karas, Samuehl Fluksman, has urged candidates who contest the upcoming regional elections to promote economic development once they are elected.

“It is of paramount importance that all the machinery is in place to promote economic development,” he said. “Therefore regional councillors should establish sound relationships with the two zinc and diamond mining houses, as well as businesses in the region.”In an interview with The Namibian, Fluksman said it was premature to say what he would do in future. He added that as a patriotic Namibian he would be available to assist on national and regional level.Fluksman challenged community and business leaders in the Karas Region to play a role in realising the objectives of Vision 2030.He took the opportunity to express his gratitude to the voters who had given him the opportunity to serve the community of the Karas Region in the capacity of regional councillor.”The six years were hectic but also full of excitement,” he said Fluksman was recently defeated in primary elections by fellow Swapo member David Shoombe from the Luderitz constituency. Most critics believe that Fluksman’s support for the axed Foreign Affairs Minister Hipido Hamutenya during the Swapo presidential nomination race was the reason for him losing out as regional councillor.”Therefore regional councillors should establish sound relationships with the two zinc and diamond mining houses, as well as businesses in the region.”In an interview with The Namibian, Fluksman said it was premature to say what he would do in future. Most critics believe that Fluksman’s support for the axed Foreign Affairs Minister Hipido Hamutenya during the Swapo presidential nomination race was the reason for him losing out as regional councillor.
