Fifa backs Women’s Super League

THE Federation of International Football Associations (Fifa) will today hand over football gear and training equipment to the Namibia Football Association (NFA) Women’s Super League clubs.

Fifa has decided to assist local women’s football with N$100 000 to better administer its programmes. Women’s Desk coordinator Jackey Gertze said the association was excited about the occasion.Fifa has been instrumental in creating a pathway for women’s football development in Namibia, ranging from coaching to refereeing, player development and the establishment of national structures.’Fifa have always been there for us. They have always supported our programme, but this one is big, very big, because all clubs in the league will receive playing gear and training equipment such as cones and all. We are very grateful to Fifa and looking forward to the gesture,’ Gertze said.The introduction of NFA Women’s Super League in 2011 has resulted in all Namibian women’s national sides participating in Fifa and CAF competitions.This season’s league final is scheduled for this weekend.
