Farmers treat workers to fun day

THE Black Nossob Conservancy in the Omaheke Region had its tenth fun day on Thursday, where workers are treated by their employers to good food and fun games.

The fun day has become an annual event on the calendar of the conservancy.Seven farms with a combined workforce of about 60 workers participated. The day started with breakfast and then an informal talk about a relevant subject. This year the talk was on fire fighting and fire prevention. After that the games started where the workers participate in groups against each other. The games consisted of soccer ball target kicking, basketball and kettie shooting. The farmers then prepared and served lunch and after dessert there was a talk on the prevention and care of burn wounds. The games continued with sack racing, musical chairs and tug of war, which is always very popular. Prizes were awarded to the winners in the individual categories as well as the best team and the best overall woman and man, who won a sewing machine and a bicycle respectively. Prizes were also awarded in the arts and crafts section. ‘This conservancy is the only one in Namibia that treats the workers to such a special day. We the workers are spoiled and served, which we enjoy,’ said Natalia Urikos on behalf of the workers.
