Erongo Expo 2009 bigger and better

EXHIBITORS and visitors can look forward to a much bigger and better Erongo Trade Expo at the Walvis Bay Civic Centre, from October 29 to 31.

‘An improved and expanding Erongo Trade Expo is imperative as Walvis Bay is rapidly moving to the fore as a strategic import and export harbour for Namibia, its landlocked neighbouring and SADC countries via the Trans Kalahari and Trans Caprivi corridors,’ said Eddie Stevens, organiser of the expo. ‘It is the mission of the Erongo Trade Expo to play a contributory role in facilitating increased trade through these corridors as well as exposing businesses to the various opportunities of the Erongo Region,’ he said.He added that with the support and encouragement of the Walvis Bay Municipality, the expo provides an ideal platform for businesses from the coast, and elsewhere in Namibia and SADC region, to promote and trade their products and services. This year the expo also endeavours to accommodate and promote small and medium enterprises with possible support from the Ministry of Trade and Industry. Apart from the 62 indoor stands in the Namib and Erongo halls, a further 30 stands are now offered in a tented villge, at virtually the same standard and with the same amenities. Various outdoor stands would also cater for small and large exhibitors. A motor show is planned to showcase the latest passenger, sports, recreation and transport vehicles as well as vehicle accessories and parts. Suppliers of camping and outdoor sports equipment will also be accommodated.As the coast has become one of the most important tourist and leisure destinations in Namibia, tour operators are invited to utilise this opportunity to also attract coastal residents at special rates, as – by ‘word of mouth’ – locals could play an important role in marketing tourism activities and opportunities of the coast to family and friends outside Namibia.Exhibitors are invited to obtain their stands before the closing date of October 15 2009.
