EPL protest grows

ABOUT 200 disgruntled members of the public yesterday held a meeting in Windhoek where they vented their frustrations about the unavailability of English Premier League (EPL) matches on DStv.

The members established a committee which will put forth their complaints and suggestions to MultiChoice Namibia, while they also plan future meetings on the issue. The leader of the group, local lawyer Lucius Murorua, said all members of the public who are affected are requested to attend a public meeting at the offices of MultiChoice Namibia tomorrow at 10h00.”The main purpose of the meeting is to put pressure on MultiChoice Namibia which last weekend announced that EPL matches will not be televised in Namibia after the company only managed to buy 20 per cent of the rights for the next three seasons,” he said.Various people spoke at the meeting, with a clear message coming out that they will aim for discontinuing their services with the service provider. They claimed that the response by MultiChoice Namibia General manager Kobus Bezuidenhout was disregarding and insensitive and that the Namibian EPL football loving fans, were not informed about the move in advance.
