Easter roads claim one life in Karas

THREE road accidents were reported in the Karas Region over the Easter weekend.

In the first accident, a 79-year-old South African woman was killed instantly after the car in which she was travelling overturned. She was identified as Elsie Sofia Fourie.The accident happened on the Seeheim gravel road on Thursday afternoon.According to Nampol’s Inspector Marina Coetzee, the driver, Ciska Gouveia, escaped without injury while a second passenger, Phillip Fourie (80), sustained serious injuries.In the second accident, a South African and an Israeli were admitted to the Keetmanshoop State Hospital after the car in which they were travelling overturned.The accident happened on the gravel road between Helmeringhausen and Sinclair farm on Sunday.It is reported that the drivers lost control over the vehicles in both accidents.In a third accident, a 12-year-old boy and a 35-year-old man were hit by a Land Cruiser with a South African registration number, Police reported.Both were admitted to the Keetmanshoop State Hospital.She was identified as Elsie Sofia Fourie.The accident happened on the Seeheim gravel road on Thursday afternoon.
