THE Dare to Care Disaster Fund, which is made up of Meatco, Agra, Meat Board, Agronomic Board, Feedmaster and Namib Mills, donated 10 tents valued at N$50 000 to the Namibia Red Cross Society last week to aid flood victims in northern and northeastern Namibia.
The fund was started in 2000 when the NAU decided to give financial aid to farmers, farmworkers and any other people who were injured or died while fighting the huge veld fires that year.
The fund members host golf days every two years to collect the money. The NAU administers the fund and organises the golf days. The next one is set for July 3 at Gobabis.
Last year the fund donated N$30 000 to the Disaster Relief Fund for flood victims in the North. The fund also paid for the funeral costs of the farmworkers murdered on the farm Kareeboomkolk together with the Erasmus couple.
