Doëseb confirms Arrows departure

NAMIBIA Premier League (NPL) chairman Johnny Doëseb confirmed that he has pulled out of the agreement to head the coastal outfit Eleven Arrows seven years earlier than anticipated.

Speaking to Namibia Sport, Doëseb said that he was leaving the agreement because he wanted to concentrate on other interests.’Yes, I have pulled out of the Eleven Arrows deal because I want to concentrate on other ventures,’ Doëseb said.A local daily last week reported that he was pulling out because of a disagreement that came about over the sharing of the N$600 000 that came with winning the Leo NFA Cup last month.Doëseb however disputed that reasoning and said that here were never any disagreements.’There were never any disagreements at the club as some speculators were saying. Rumours will always be there, but right now you are hearing it straight from the horse’s mouth, there was no bad blood with the other people at the club,’ he said.’It was simply time for me to move on, somebody else must come and take over’Sources who are involved with the running of the club also confirmed to Namibia Sport that there was never any disagreement that prompted Doëseb’s departure from the club.’In fact he informed us back in April of his intention of leaving the club at the end of the season. People are just trying to sensationalise the issue,’ the source said.Doëseb said that the club would go back to the executive committee that had been in charge of running the club before he became involved.’I just felt that I have to look at other interests and have decided that I would like to contribute more at a national level and where everybody can benefit,’ Doëseb said about his plans.Meanwhile Doëseb rubbished recent claims that he was in cahoots with Namibia Football Association (NFA) secretary general Barry Rukoro to try and oust John Muinjo from the president’s seat.’Those are comments from short-sighted people in the football arena. Those are the people who do not want to see positive things happen in local football,’ he charged. – namibiasport.com.na
