Dividing Line In Otjiwarongo

I AM a concerned resident from the town of Otjiwarongo and would like to thank you for providing me a space to air my concern in your esteemed newspaper and again would like you to thank for keeping the spirit of freedom of speech and free and independent press alive.

My concerns stem from the disturbing state of affairs in the service delivery and the maintenance of infrastructure in and around Otjiwarongo. Walking around Otjiwarongo and between the suburbs and the formerly called location which is Orwetoveni one cannot help but notice the stark difference.Firstly, most streets in Orwetoweni have dangerous big potholes which are seldom repaired whereas in the suburbs where the mayor is living there are surprisingly no potholes.Secondly, refuse accumulates into heaps and thus release an unbearable smell because they are seldom cleaned up, whereas in the suburbs this seldom happens. The last issue is that there is seldom consultation between the community and the town council and even when they do take place the residents are not properly informed. As a resident, in the future I would like the town council to address the discrimination in service delivery and the town council should hold more consultative meetings with the community and thus avoid buildings such as the Museum becoming white elephants.Concerned Resident OtjiwarongoWalking around Otjiwarongo and between the suburbs and the formerly called location which is Orwetoveni one cannot help but notice the stark difference.Firstly, most streets in Orwetoweni have dangerous big potholes which are seldom repaired whereas in the suburbs where the mayor is living there are surprisingly no potholes.Secondly, refuse accumulates into heaps and thus release an unbearable smell because they are seldom cleaned up, whereas in the suburbs this seldom happens. The last issue is that there is seldom consultation between the community and the town council and even when they do take place the residents are not properly informed. As a resident, in the future I would like the town council to address the discrimination in service delivery and the town council should hold more consultative meetings with the community and thus avoid buildings such as the Museum becoming white elephants.Concerned Resident Otjiwarongo
