THE Police have requested the public’s assistance in tracing three suspects they believe stole 18 containers of rough diamonds from Namdeb’s Daberas Mine, near Oranjemund, in November.
Namupolo Gabriel (alias Shinyemba), Amon Ndujkuma (alias Mutumwa), and Elvis Nixon Tangeni Kalipi are wanted on charges of armed robbery, attempted murder and the theft of uncut diamonds. The Police suspect that the trio are constantly on the move around the country.A fourth suspect was arrested last year and is in Police custody.Police have also recovered some of the stones looted from security officers, allegedly by the same four men.The robbery took place at about 01h00 on November 10.Daberas Mine is 65 kilometres upstream from Oranjemund.Diamonds were first mined there in 1999 and a processing plant was added to the operation in 2001.About 300 workers are employed at the mine – most by Namdeb and the rest by subcontractors.* Anyone with information on the suspects should contact Detective Chief Inspector Routh: 061-2094358 or 081 124 9221; Insp Kamwangha: 061-209 4356 or 081 122 3651: Det Insp Louw at 063-232 596 or 081 124 9214; or their nearest Police station.The Police suspect that the trio are constantly on the move around the country.
