Combatants’ New Demands

EX-SWAPO Combatants met in Windhoek recently and established a committee that was charged with the responsibility of going ahead with the longstanding unresolved issue of the welfare of the ex-Swapo combatants in recognition of their services in exile.

The committee has summarily made a submission to the President of the Republic of Namibia, Comrade Hifikepunye Pohamba, requesting him to speedily address this longstanding issue and other matters. In this submission, the committee calls on all ex-Swapo war veterans and former fighters to stand united for our well-deserved longstanding demands for recognition and benefits. The committee further pledges to disseminate information on this issue immediately after our requested meeting with the President on or before June 10 2006.Chairperson Committee For Welfare of Ex-Combatants NOTE: Please note that this letter was received unsigned. We urge writers to ensure that letters are signed and the identity provided even when a pseudonym is required.- EdIn this submission, the committee calls on all ex-Swapo war veterans and former fighters to stand united for our well-deserved longstanding demands for recognition and benefits. The committee further pledges to disseminate information on this issue immediately after our requested meeting with the President on or before June 10 2006.Chairperson Committee For Welfare of Ex-Combatants NOTE: Please note that this letter was received unsigned. We urge writers to ensure that letters are signed and the identity provided even when a pseudonym is required.- Ed
