Cold front to hit the South today

A COLD front is expected to reach southern Namibia later today and will be felt tomorrow.

Although temperatures will drop significantly in the South, the rest of the country’s weather is expected to stay relatively mild. The Namibia Meteorological Service confirmed yesterday that a high-pressure system is ‘feeding in cold air over southern parts of Namibia’.It warned that the cold front could bring cloudy conditions and light showers to the far southern parts tomorrow morning. Today there is a slight chance of rain in the extreme south too. The weather bureau confirmed that this cold front, will not affect the central areas that much and that the northern parts will remain warm to hot.Maximum temperatures in central Namibia will hover at around 23 and 24 degrees Celsius today and tomorrow, while the north can bank on maximum temperatures of between 26 and 27 degrees Celsius. In the south, temperatures will drop by a few degrees today, and more significantly when the cold front makes landfall tomorrow.According to the weather bureau, temperatures are not expected to drop as low as last week, when rain, snow and frost lashed southern Namibia.By Friday, temperatures will once again pick up, the weather office said.
