JUST when Namibians thought that an unusually wet rainy season was over, the weather once again managed to deliver a surprise over the weekend – in the form of unexpected rain over the central part of the country during Saturday night.
The thunder and lighting that rumbled over Windhoek in the early morning hours of Sunday appear to have brought more sound and fury than actual rain, however. According to the Hosea Kutako International Airport Meteorological Office, 1,4 millimetres of rain was measured at Eros Airport in Windhoek yesterday morning. At Hosea Kutako International Airport, 2 mm of rain was measured, while 0,2 mm of rain was reported from Mariental. The rain was attributed to the effects of a cold front that was moving over Namibia over the weekend. There was a possibility of more light showers over the country later yesterday afternoon, but with the cold front having already passed over the country to the east, chances of further rain were on the decrease, the airport weather office indicated.According to the Hosea Kutako International Airport Meteorological Office, 1,4 millimetres of rain was measured at Eros Airport in Windhoek yesterday morning. At Hosea Kutako International Airport, 2 mm of rain was measured, while 0,2 mm of rain was reported from Mariental. The rain was attributed to the effects of a cold front that was moving over Namibia over the weekend. There was a possibility of more light showers over the country later yesterday afternoon, but with the cold front having already passed over the country to the east, chances of further rain were on the decrease, the airport weather office indicated.
