THE cloudy, hazy conditions experienced in Windhoek over the weekend are not a sign of early rain, unfortunately.
The spring haze is caused by dust and smoke left behind by the August winds and high-pressure systems in the transition from winter to summer. The extreme southern and southwestern parts of Namibia, which fall in the winter rainfall area, have received some showers as a frontal system from the Cape moved as far north as Keetmanshoop. Tuesday’s forecast for the South is slightly cloudy skies, while the rest of the country were to be fine and hot, according to Victor Kaurimuje of the Windhoek weather bureau.
