A Namibia National Teachers Union (Nantu) official has alleged that cleaners at Government offices and parastatals are being forced to perform clerical duties without being remunerated for the additional work.
Nantu Regional Gender Secretary for the North, Olivia Nghishoongele, made the allegation at a media conference at Oshakati on Friday. “We demand that this malpractice be dropped,” Nghishoongele said.She added that unions were also concerned about loss of property from Government institutions as a result of the removal of guards.Said Nghishoongele: “We demand immediate action by the line ministries to address this issue as a matter of urgency”.On the land question, Nghishoongele said Government’s willing-buyer, willing-seller policy should be changed to “willing-leaver, willing-occupier”.- Nampa”We demand that this malpractice be dropped,” Nghishoongele said.
