Classic Clashes move to the north

THE 2009 edition of the FNB Classic Clashes school sport development programme will officially come to an end this weekend, with two FNB Soccer Classic Clashes matches at Okalongo and Nehale School Sport Fields.

‘It will be the first time for the football teams of Okalongo Secondary School and Okatana Combined School to lock horns and I have reason to believe that this FNB Soccer Classic Clashes match between these two schools promises fireworks on Saturday,’ said Cassius Moetie, FNB Group communications manager.Etuna Hamunyela, principal of Okalongo Secondary School, said that the name of his school was changed and is now called Haudano, an Oshiwambo expression, meaning ‘no joke’. Hamunyela said: ‘If my counterparts at Okatana Combined School are not adequately prepared and serious, we at Haudano Secondary School will make no jokes in crushing them.’ The principal predicted a 3-0 victory over Okatana in a match starting at 14h00, while the programme for the day will commence at 10H00 with cultural performances. At the match between Nehale and Ongha, the host school Nehale waged a psychological war with their archrivals Ongha, who won the Coca-Cola Cup earlier this year. ‘We are prepared to crush Ongha, although they are a much stronger team than ours. I have worked hard in preparing my boys and I applied specific strategies to enable my midfield and defence to sustain and capitalise on counter attacks,’ said Jona Heita, sport officer of Nehale school.Laughing off the threats, Domingo Ruwa, the coach of Ongha, asked: ‘How can the defending champions of the Coca-Cola Cup drop their rating by losing against an underdog? Heita is dreaming and I know dreams are free of charge and tax free, but Nehale Secondary School is in for a big surprise.’ Ongha boasts with a few players from the Second Division, the likes of Andreas Tobias and Kadila Augustus as strikers and Kamati Nicodemus as midfielder. The event starts at 11h00 while a jam-packed entertainment programme commences at 08h00 with cultural performances and a curtain-raiser match between the teachers of the two schools.
