City deal

THE Namibia Public Workers Union (Napwu) last week became the exclusive bargaining agent with the City of Windhoek, following an agreement between the City and the union.

The City Council endorsed the agreement at its monthly council meeting last Thursday.The recognition agreement encompasses such issues as appointments, salary negotiations and other aspects related to staff needs.Until recently, Napwu, although dealing with these issues, acted on a consultancy basis. The agreement excludes management, who are not part of any bargaining unit.
