WE, the Hardap Women’s Voice under Woman’s Action for Development wish to convey our utmost disappointment in our church leaders who bluntly refused to assist us in our effort to try and curb the evil practises in Rehoboth.
How can a pastor say that shebeens are income-generating? So we may not march against them. What does the Lord say about giving alcohol to your brother? Read about it in Hab 2:15, 16.We do not ask for shebeens to be closed down, but we only ask that they operate during business hours and stay closed during the night. Please do not allow minors to buy booze.Think about their future. We handed a petition list to all the churches in Rehoboth, but all came back blank except Gospel Mission and Rehoboth North Rhenish Church.Do our community in Rehoboth have no social problems? Are your children and women not raped and abused? Are your children supported? We feel that if we join hands and pray together we can make a difference. It is simply not enough just to pray.God expects that when we pray for something, we should not just sit back and wait for miracles to happen.God expects us to get up and do something so that we can receive his blessings and answers to our prayers. However the Hardap Women’s Voice members wish to thank the authorities, the police and our magistrate in Rehoboth for their support towards our efforts. Our hearfelt gratitude to the schools that participated in our march.May our creator bless you all with wisdom and courage. We really need your support. Why don’t our spiritual leaders see the harm done in our community? We don’t want to fight; we are all God’s creation.Let us all stand together and fight the evil with God’s help.We need to humble ourselves.Remember Women’s Action for Development is a non-governmental, non-party political organisation, not for gain. This has precisely been our particular strength, as the organisation is continuously attracting community members from all spiritual, cultural and party -political persuasions.God bless you all.Rachil Cloete Chairperson: Hardap Women’s VoiceWhat does the Lord say about giving alcohol to your brother?
