Chiefs coach still faithful

KAIZER Chiefs coach Vladimir Vermezovic refuses to throw in the towel on Amakhosi winning the Absa Premiership title.

Chiefs restarted the final lap of their league programme when they drew 0-0 against Moroka Swallows in a hard fought Soweto Derby played at Ellis Park on Tuesday night, pushing them further behind favourites SuperSport United and Mamelodi Sundowns.Said the Serbian coach: ‘We are still in with a chance. There are five games to go and anything can happen.’I have to be honest and say we will need other teams to do us a favour if we are to win the league, but nothing is impossible.’Birds coach Rainer Zobel, admitted his side were lucky to go home with a point, but said he was happy with their performance in the first 65 to 70 minutes, but not the way they fell apart at the end.’Chiefs were the better side in the last 20 minutes. My strikers and midfield lost their shape, but thankfully my defenders held on and they were magnificent.’On the night Chiefs were unlucky. But they could not score and that was due to the way my defenders performed.’Vermezovic said it was not Chiefs’ night but said he was not unhappy with a point: ‘Maybe the 0-0 score was the right result as we failed to get a goal and penetrate the Swallows defence.’One point is better than none.’Chiefs, however, will be looking for maximum points when they play relegation candidates Jomo Cosmos at Loftus on Saturday.Cosmos and Maritzburg United also drew 0-0 in their clash played at the Rand Stadium on Tuesday. – Nampa-Sapa
