THE Namibia Chess Federation will host the fifth Namibia National School Team Chess Championship at David Bezuidenhout High School in Khomasdal on Saturday.
All schools and chess academies who are paid up, members of the NCF may participate. Schools that are not members can pay N$200 membership to enter the competition, apart from the tournament registration fees to participate. Schools may register a maximum of three teams that consist of four players per team. Registration close today at 16h00.A registration fee of N$20 per participant is payable on Friday or early Saturday morning. The event takes place over seven rounds from 09h00 to 18h00. Refreshments will be sold at the venue. A total of five women and nine men teams are competing for the top honours that will qualify the top two teams in each category for next year Zone 6 Club Championship in December.This event is currently the last before the closing of the 2009 volleyball season. NVF vice president, Joel Mathews said the volleyball season will start again next year with the season opening tournament in mid-February.He said this tournament is meant for all volleyball teams in the Namibia and does not require any affiliation to the federation as long as the teams conform to the competition requirements.
