A HIGH-RANKING delegation from the Council of Churches in Namibia (CCN) on Monday visited Theonila Kakaya (85) from Oshoogolo village near Oshikuku whose life and property have been devastated since June this year by a recurring and mysterious fire that has already destroyed a large part of her homestead.
The CCN delegation included the Council’s Secretary General, Rev Nangula Kathindi, Rev Mathews Kapolo and the well-known elderly pastor from the Olukonda ELCIN congregation, Efraim Angula. Rev Kathindi told Kakaya that they had come to offer their solidarity with her in her struggle against the demons or Satan and to encourage her to stand fast as a Christian. In his prayer, Pastor Angula asked God to protect Kakaya – who is a Roman Catholic – and her people from Satan and from evil demons.Kakaya told the spiritual leaders that, because she was desperate, she had even gone to traditional healers for help and was told by them to leave her house. She is now staying with her daughter Susan Sakaria.Reverend Kathindi and her delegation advised her to return to her homestead.Kathindi also said she was disappointed to hear that spiritual leaders in the area were reluctant to visit Kakaya and to assist and pray for her and her people in their difficulty. She called on spiritual leaders to offer a hand of assistance to those people who are suffering at the hands of demons.Kakaaya told the CCN delegation that so far only members of her Uukwanatshikare Roman Catholic Congregation had come once to pray for them. The same delegation also visited the Etunda Combined School near Ruacana in the Omusati Region over the weekend where some kinds of demons are alleged to be harassing the teachers and learners. The delegation prayed for the school.Rev Kathindi told Kakaya that they had come to offer their solidarity with her in her struggle against the demons or Satan and to encourage her to stand fast as a Christian. The delegation prayed for the school.
