THE entire staff of a Swakopmund car wash was arrested last week in connection with the theft of N$57 000 in cash from a tourist bus.
According to Erongo’s Police Commander, Commissioner Festus Shilongo, the bus was left at a local car wash on Thursday to be cleaned.A safe on the vehicle was broken into, and banknotes and travellers’ cheques to the value of N$57 000 were allegedly stolen.By Friday, 11 people had been arrested at their homes in Swakopmund and will appear in the Magistrate’s Court on a charge of theft. All the cash was recovered. The owner of the car-wash did not wish to comment, but confirmed that his entire staff was implicated.
