The Liverpool Supporters Club of Namibia (LSCN) continues to grow with three more branches in Walvis Bay, Swakopmund and Usakos scheduled to open this weekend.
The Usakos meeting will start at 15h00 at the Usakos Pub and Entertainment Centre, while the Swakopmund meeting will start at 11h00 at the Rafters Pub. The Walvis Bay meeting starts at The Bistro at 16h00.According to the national coordinator of the club, Erwin Handura, all Liverpool fans are invited to attend the meetings where they will receive application forms to become members.”We have different types of membership ranging from N$$60 per year for senior citizens to N$100 per year for juniors and adults. We also have a special family package of N$300 per year for the whole family,” he said.Handura said members would receive several benefits throughout the year, with a lucky draw winner standing a chance of watching a live match at Liverpool’s famous Anfield stadium.”The main aim of our club will be to support certain charities, for instance by donating food hampers to old-age homes. But our members will receive several benefits, ranging from discounts at selected companies like Street House and GTV, while they will also receive free food and drinks at some of Liverpool’s big matches. We plan to hold a lucky draw competition, with the winner receiving a ticket to attend a match at Anfield,” he said.Since the LSCN was formed in Windhoek last year, Liverpool fans often get together at venues like the Zur Oase Pub to watch live matches and according to Handura the turnout has exceeded their expectations.”It is normally fully packed when Liverpool play big matches and we are looking at options of starting our own club house in future,” he said.So far the LSCN has about 200 registered members, while Rehoboth also opened a branch last weekend.More branches are planned for Otjiwarongo, Grootfontein, Tsumeb and Oshakati in the near future.Handura was philosophical about Liverpool’s recent poor campaign in the English Premier League.”We haven’t done as well as expected and we are disappointed, but we will support Liverpool for the rest of our lives. This is the time to find out who our true supporters are.”www.namibiasport.com.naThe Walvis Bay meeting starts at The Bistro at 16h00.According to the national coordinator of the club, Erwin Handura, all Liverpool fans are invited to attend the meetings where they will receive application forms to become members.”We have different types of membership ranging from N$$60 per year for senior citizens to N$100 per year for juniors and adults. This is the time to find out who our true supporters are.”www.namibiasport.com.na
