Cafu’s funeral on Saturday

NAMIBIA’S former Fifa-accredited referee Mathew ‘Kafu’ Katjimune, who died last Thursday after being rushed to the Roman Catholic Hospital in Windhoek, will be laid to rest on Saturday.

Programme organiser and family member Beau Kauta informed Nampa on Monday that the late Katjimune will be buried at Okaundja, 58 km east of Okakarara in the Otjozondjupa Region.He said a memorial service will be held at the Macedonia Lutheran Church in Katutura today at 18h00.According to Kauta, the speakers at the memorial service will include NFA vice president Cornelius Kapenda and the Namibia Referee Association’s (NRA) chairman, Edwarth Ndjadila.Another memorial service is planned at Otjiwarongo tomorrow at the Lutheran Church, popularly known as the Kruis Church, at 18h00. On Friday, the mourners will head to Okaepe, the home village of the late Katjimune, before he is taken to his final resting place at Okaundja on Saturday. The 35-year-old Katjimune was a chief hydrologist in the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, and is survived by his father, two daughters and a son. – Nampa
