Cabinet plans another retreat

CABINET Ministers will hold a second retreat by June this year to discuss socio-economic issues facing Namibia, as well as the implementation of recommendations adopted at the December 2005 retreat held in Swakopmund.

According to the latest Cabinet briefing paper, President Pohamba and his Ministers decided last week that this year’s retreat would discuss job creation, youth empowerment and poverty reduction, with the focus on reviewing the implementation of the 2005 recommendations. A preparatory committee, chaired by the Office of the Prime Minister and consisting of five Ministers and the Director General of the National Planning Commission (NPC), will organise the retreat.The ministerial committee will be assisted by a technical committee chaired by the Secretary to Cabinet, Frans Kapofi.Ministers, their deputies, permanent secretaries and selected external participants will attend the upcoming retreat.A preparatory committee, chaired by the Office of the Prime Minister and consisting of five Ministers and the Director General of the National Planning Commission (NPC), will organise the retreat.The ministerial committee will be assisted by a technical committee chaired by the Secretary to Cabinet, Frans Kapofi.Ministers, their deputies, permanent secretaries and selected external participants will attend the upcoming retreat.
