STANDARD Bank Namibia was recently named the Best Bank in Namibia when Global Finance magazine chose its best emerging market banks in Africa in an exclusive survey published in its May edition.
The award is based on input from Global Finance editors, industry analysts, corporate executives and banking consultants.

Criteria for choosing the country winners included growth in assets, profitability, strategic relationships, customer service, competitive pricing and innovative products.
FNB rolls out new ATM software
FNB is to install new software on all its ATMs by the end of July. According to the bank, the new software will be easier to use, quicker, and allow customers to purchase airtime at ATMs.
The bank said customers will not be able to withdraw N$10 notes from its ATMs after this time.
Standard Bank to finance Botswana power station
STANDARD Bank and the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China have been mandated to finance the expansion of the Morupule B Power Station near Palapye in eastern Botswana.
The US$1,6 billion coal-fired Morupule B Power Station project is a Botswana government initiative, driven by the Botswana Power Corporation, aimed at boosting the country’s power generation capacity. It comes in the wake of Eskom switching off its power to Botswana to supply growing domestic demand in South Africa.
