Burglars plunder home of missionary – again

FOR the second time in as many weeks, the meagre earthly possessions of a Finnish missionary at Swakopmund have been targeted by burglars.

Two weeks ago, The Namibian reported on the break-in at the house in Vineta where evangelists from Finland stay when travelling through or working in the area. On that occasion Marja Rosilo, who came from Finland two months ago to spruce up the place, was robbed of personal items such as clothing and a short-wave radio. Most upsetting to her was the loss of her sewing machine, which she was using to make new curtains for the home.Yesterday morning she pedalled home on her bicycle, her only means of transport, after a quick trip to town, only to find the house burgled yet again. The first thing that caught her eye was the empty space where a sewing machine stood that she had borrowed to continue her work after the previous theft. When she spoke to The Namibian, she had yet to take inventory of household items to see what else was looted. This time the thugs gained entry through a different window, but Rosilo suspected that it was the work of the same trio who returned to the house.Dejected and furious, Rosilo said: “Please tell them not to come back; there’s nothing left for them to take.”She is now concerned for her own safety: “Next time they’ll come here when I’m at home. Then they’ll probably kill me for items that can’t be of much value to them.”But the missionary is determined to complete the job for which she has travelled across the world. When asked whether this incident would be the straw that broke the camel’s back, she replied: “No! I will finish what I’ve started.I will not run away from them.”On that occasion Marja Rosilo, who came from Finland two months ago to spruce up the place, was robbed of personal items such as clothing and a short-wave radio.
