Bullet returns with high hopes

THE Bullet Cultural Group held its first press conference on Friday since returning from the World Cup in South Africa.

The group, which predominantly performs Oviritje music and wears traditional Ovahimba attire, captured the hearts and minds of many people with their performance, which was televised live.
World Cup organisers chose cultural groups from most African countries to represent the respective continents. Bullet was chosen to represent South America.
At the opening ceremony on June 11 they performed in front of a crowd of 25 000 people and proved so popular that they were asked to perform at the closing ceremony too.
Unfortunately they couldn’t extend their visas and had to return home before yesterday’s final.
According to the group’s manager, Masatu Thom, the organisers of the next World Cup, which will take place in Brazil, entered into a pre-agreement with the group to perform at that event. The cultural group will perform at Opuwo on July 23 and 24.
