Brave Warriors promise an improved display vs Ghana

IF the promise of an improved performance made by Namibia’s team manager Tim Isaacs is anything to go by, then local fans can look forward to a humdinger of a match when the Brave Warriors engage host Ghana in Accra tonight.

The two countries enter the highly anticipated Group A second-round tie with contrasting records from their respective opening-round matches. While Namibia were taught an easy football lesson by the Atlas Lions of Morocco with a thorough 5-1 thumping on Monday, Ghana scored a crucial 1-0 victory against a gutsy Guinea in the tournament’s opening game on Sunday.Speaking to The Namibian Sport from Accra yesterday, Isaacs promised an improved performance from his team, adding that the boys had recovered well from their Moroccan disappointment and were in a positive mood for Ghana.”The technical staff is happy with the positive attitude of the players and they have responded well during training this week. They are prepared to transform that promise with a very improved display tonight.”They are ready to give their all against Ghana. They have promised to go all out against the hosts and they have vowed to give it a 100 per cent collective effort. What happened on Monday must not be repeated again,” Isaacs vowed. He said the coach had told the players that they had nothing to lose, as everybody expected them to lose and that it was the right opportunity to redeem themselves by giving it their best shot against one of the tournament favourites. He pointed out that what happened against Morocco left everybody dumbfounded and that he was also fully aware that the people back home must have been deeply disappointed with the 5-1 scoreline.”The players know that they owe it to themselves to put up a more credible display against Ghana. They also understand that they could be severely punished by Ghana if they enter this encounter with the same negative attitude like on Monday.”They realise now after watching defending champions Egypt making mincemeat with the powerful Cameroon. They got inspired after realising that even the mightiest of them all can go through a rough patch,” Isaacs pointed out.The Indomitable Lions went on an almost identical trend as the Brave Warriors, as they found themselves trailing the Egyptians 3-0 before the changeover before they eventually succumbed to a 4-2 defeat at the final whistle.Meanwhile, Namibia’s head of mission, Titus Kaunamuene, echoed Isaacs’ sentiments that the players were geared to battle against Ghana.”They boys looked good during last night’s (Tuesday’s) training session. The spirits are sky high again and it seems like they have overcome the Morocco shock. The humiliation came because of a lack of communication at the back.”They know that they have to up their game against Ghana who will expectedly be backed by a huge partisan crowd. They have a reputation to protect and they can not continue to disappointed the people back home like on Monday,” Kunamuene lamented. The encounter is scheduled for 21h30 tonight while Guinea will cross swords with Morocco in the group encounter which is billed for 21h30.While Namibia were
