THE Brave Warriors development side capped a successful tour of West Africa with a 1-0 victory over Dwarfs FC in Sekondi, Ghana, on Tuesday.
The relatively young side won the match courtesy of well-taken goal by midfielder Neville Tjiueza to round off a memorable three-week tour in Ghana. The team, expected home today, won five of their six games with the other ending in a 1-1 draw against Aduana FC. ‘The team have overall behaved exemplary and have been great ambassadors for Namibia and we are excited about the outcome and how the team has responded to various oppositions and going forward, these lads are the future indeed,’ said team manager Jakes Amaning from Accra.Amaning added that the tour was an eye-opener for the team and that the experience is to be cherished.’From the coaches to the players, friends made and connections established it was great and we will now expect invites from other countries and we are not surprised South Africa wants to play against us,’ Amaning said.’We took the effort and the response is great already and it is all in the name of developing these players into future senior national team stars.’The second-string Brave Warriors will next focus their attentions on South Africa in a friendly match scheduled for August 10 at – possibly – Windhoek’s Independence Stadium.’This will be an opportunity for the nation to come and see the guys in action at home, we have all heard what they did in Ghana and now we have to see for ourselves,’ said Barry Rukoro, confirming the encounter.
