Bombosch, Adrian win in Mariental

NAMIBIAN triathletes Tokkie Bombosch and Vera Adrian turned on the style when they walked away with top accolades at the popular Mariental Triathlon over the weekend.

Bombosch, possibly Namibia’s most recognisable face in domestic cycling and despite competing in the veterans’ category, netted a collective time of only 2 hours, 26 minutes and 27 seconds. Bombosch (40) also won the three-legged event in 1998 after he stepped down from competitive cycling a few years ago.Bombosch was followed by Andy Chase in second and Patrick de Goede in third. Adrian was crowned the overall female champion after she finished in an impressive 2 hours, 40 minutes and 21 seconds.Adrian, who is only 16 years of age, pipped her senior counterpart Charmaine Shannon to the crown who finished in 2 hours, 51 minutes. Imke Jagau was placed third for the women competitors.Johan van Niekerk also gave in a great performance by finishing in only 2 hours and 49 minutes in the masters’ men category.
