FIFA Women’s Football development manager Mayrilian Cruz Blanco will visit Namibia next week to familiarise herself with the latest developments in Namibia women’s football.
The Cuban-born Blanco arrives on Tuesday and will meet the Namibia Football Association’s chief executive officer Barry Rukoro, technical director Klaus Staerk and NFA Women Football head Jacky Gertze at Soccer House.On Tuesday, she will meet officials at the Ministry of Sport, the Namibia Schools’ Sport Union (NSSU), the Namibia Sport Commission, Unicef and the volunteer group SCORE.’We are looking forward to her visit as we are proud of what we have achieved so far with regard to development of the game,’ Gertze said.Blanco will be the guest of honour at the girls’ football match between the Young Beauties and Emma Hoogenhout under-14 teams at the Sam Nujoma Stadium on Tuesday at 17h00.A press briefing will be held on Wednesday at 10h30 at Soccer House before Blanco departs for Zurich in the afternoon.’It will just be about what her impressions are of our desk and probably recommendations,’ said Gertze. Blanco’s department is tasked with promoting and developing women and girls’ football, improving infrastructure of women’s football in the member associations and increasing the proportion of women and girls playing football at the grassroots, in schools and at amateur and professional levels. – NFA Secretariat
