Birds still flying high

BLUE Waters have nothing to worry about, at least for now, as they are still topping the MTC Premiership with two points adrift, after they beat Hotspurs 1-0 in their encounter on Saturday.

Blue Waters, nicknamed ‘The Birds’, are now unbeaten in three matches and are at the summit of the MTC Namibia Premier League (NPL) with nine points, while Black Africa, which beat United Stars 1-0 in Tsumeb also on Saturday, are second with seven points.Blue Waters in their two other matches beat Oshakati City and Ramblers and will for now enjoy their 100 per cent record in the league.Coached by a former player, Lucky Shipanga, Blue Waters made a return to the premiership after they were relegated and this time, the Walvis-Bay side has different intentions.The real test is still to come for Shipanga’s youngsters, as they will next face SKW before meeting Orlando Pirates, Civics and defending champions African Stars.In other matches at the weekend, SKW beat Ramblers 2-1 on Friday night in Windhoek, while on Saturday, Orlando Pirates buried Oshakati City 4-1 in their Embandu Stadium backyard in northern Namibia.Civics and Eleven Arrows played out to a 0-all draw on Saturday night, with Civics collecting their first points for the season after two consecutive losses.corry@namibian.com.na
