Big Brother Africa: Meryl exits like a star!

Big Brother Africa: Meryl exits like a star!

I’M so disappointed.

I can hardly watch BBA any more. The house just seems so empty without Meryl. She had such a big personality, her raucous laugh could be heard from any corner of the house and her departure has certainly left a huge gap in the hearts and minds of viewers across the continent. In a quick telephonic interview with Meryl yesterday, I got the low-down on what exactly went down with the hunky Ghanaian, what she thinks of Bertha’s game plan and where to from here…How do you feel less than 24 hours after leaving the house? I actually feel really good to be back in the real world. My life is not my own right now, as I’m so busy with media interviews and promotional activities but I feel lovely and so grateful for the wonderful experience. What did you do on your first night out? I spent quite a lot of time meeting and greeting my fans and then my mom and I stayed up into the early hours of the morning chatting about the experience and everything that has been happening since I’ve been gone.Just basically catching up on all the gossip! What are your plans for the future? Well, before I went into the house, I had to quit my job at an advertising agency, so I had planned on exploring the event management and public relations field. You look great on camera, have you ever considered becoming an actress? (Laughs) Quite a few people have suggested that to me.I would love to see what opportunities present themselves to me.I am thinking of going back to Johannesburg after the whole Big Brother thing has died down and see what the world of entertainment holds in store for me.Which of the housemates do you plan to stay in touch with? Lerato and Kwaku definitely, and also Tatiana. We actually made plans to visit each other and I hope to go to Angola soon.Speaking of Kwaku, what initially attracted you to him, besides his good looks? We had a connection almost immediately.I think it started as a mutual attraction and respect. We were completely comfortable with each other and in each others company that things just developed from there. Is it true love? At the moment we are just good friends.I look forward to seeing how things develop between us once he is out of the house, but we will have to see what happens. What is your take on Bertha telling Kwaku that she has feelings for him? I think that it just goes to show that you have to be real, right from the beginning, in a game like this. You can’t pretend to be one thing and then later – after a month – decide to be another.Bertha especially was very judgemental of Kwaku at the beginning but now she apparently has feelings for him.Would you be upset if they hooked up? As I said, Kwaku and I have a mutual friendship, a good connection.I have not put a stamp on him like ‘he is MY man’, he does not belong to me.If she feels that she wants to be with him and he does too, then there is nothing I can do about it.I am on the outside and they are inside.I just know how we felt about each other. Is there anything you would have done differently? No.I felt I played the game by being myself.I believe that everything happens for a reason and if something happens that you regret, you learn from the experience.Life is a learning process.I had fun in the house, I was myself and I don’t regret a thing.Did you realise that you were one of the most controversial housemates? I had a feeling that I would have a lot to deal with upon leaving the house because I was my wild, crazy and loud self.I decided right at the beginning that I was going to be real, be myself and have fun in the house. This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and I wanted to enjoy the experience.I was prepared for the fact that some people might not like me but I was not going to let that stop me from making the most of it! * Tune in to DStv channel 37 for all the BBA action!
