Big Brother Africa 4: Fight Malaria in Africa

THIS season of Big Brother Africa is getting involved in the fight against malaria in Africa. As part of this week’s task, housemates are getting to the nitty-gritty of Africa’s biggest challenges.

On Tuesday, the remaining six housemates started by raising consciousness on HIV-AIDS. Yesterday they turned their attention to malaria. As one of the leading killers in Africa, especially among children, malaria is a serious concern for Africa and Africans. The Big Brother Africa producers have taken this particular task further by getting involved with the Global Fund’s fight against malaria. Alongside influential leaders, organisations and sporting stars, Big Brother Africa Revolution, produced by Endemol South Africa, will donate 50 per cent of the revenue earned from SMS messages sent by viewers during the task period, from Tuesday, November 24 to Thursday, November 26. The awareness brought by this week’s task is part of a larger awareness and fundraising initiative led by the African private sector such as Nando’s and MTN, and which will continue after the end of the show. If you would like to help or learn more about the Global Fund’s fight against malaria, you can contribute to providing universal access to mosquito nets and malaria medicine in Africa, which they hope to do by the end of 2010. For more information, go to www.UnitedAgainstMalaria.org. You can also get involved by voting for your favourite all day today, and by sending SMSes to the BBA strap line.
