THE trial of a Swakopmund schoolgirl accused of murder and concealment of birth, after the body of a baby boy was found at a local school last year, will start in November.
Regional Magistrate Gaynor Poulton told Cimoney Seibes yesterday morning that the trial would start on November 10 because the investigating officer in the case was out of town.
The girl had been a Grade 11 pupil at Swakopmund Secondary School (SSS) last year when a cleaner found the body of a baby wrapped in a black towel in a dustbin on the second floor of the girls’ hostel.
After her arrest, Seibes spent 84 nights in custody before being released on bail of N$5 000.
Public Prosecutor Hermina Apollus represented the State during yesterday’s proceedings, while Garoy September from DF Malherbe & Partners represented Seibes.
Poulton extended the girl’s bail and warned her to be back at the Swakopmund Regional Court in November.
