NETBALL power house Black Africa continued their devastating form when they trounced rivals Orlando Pirates by 39-34 at the Katutura Sports Complex Saturday.
Both teams went into the match with each having a victory to their names after Black Africa beat Wanderers and Pirates defeated Tigers in earlier matches. But Black Africa was unmistakenly the better of the two having had a good start to the season as they made a clean sweep in all three divisions during the seasons opening matches in February. The match started on a fast pace and Black Africa took the lead early-on thanks to accurate shooting by Rebecca Goagoses who netted the most goals in the First division match.Goagoses was instrumental in her team’s victory as she hardly missed any shots ably assisted by goal attack Tokee Ndjavera who pushed the first set score line to 12-6.First League defending champions, Black Africa used their experience wisely and won the second set with a score of 24-13.Pirates’ teamwork was sloppy, lacked cohesion and had several communication breakdowns fuelled by Stella Williams. At the start of the third quarter, Pirates managed to narrow the gap thanks to their Daphne Eichas, Moetie Xarageb and Roswitha Kauami who worked exceptionally hard to end the set with 31-24.In other matches played, Civics’ first team beat the Namibia Defence Force team 55-27, while Tigers collected points when their opponents from Rehoboth Peace Makers did not pitch for their encounter. In the Third League, Black Africa 3B beat Metropolitan by 30-14, while Orlando Pirates received points when Black Africa 3A did not show up for their match.Civics trounced Young Ones by 44 points to 21.- NampaBut Black Africa was unmistakenly the better of the two having had a good start to the season as they made a clean sweep in all three divisions during the seasons opening matches in February. In the Third League, Black Africa 3B beat Metropolitan by 30-14, while Orlando Pirates received points when Black Africa 3A did not show up for their match.Civics trounced Young Ones by 44 points to 21.- Nampa
