Australia secure win

AUSTRALIA’S bowlers held their nerve to restrict South Africa to 244 for six and secure an exciting five-run victory for the home side in the second one-day international at Hobart yesterday.

The Proteas began the penultimate over of the match needing 26 runs to win with Mark Boucher (37 not out, 32 balls, 2×4, 1×6) and Albie Morkel at the crease.
The pair took nine runs off the over and began the final over needing an unlikely looking 17 runs to win.
Boucher hit a six, over long-on, off the third ball of the over to leave South Africa needing eight runs off two balls but seamer Ben Hilfenhaus conceded only two runs off the last two balls to take Australia to victory and tie the five-match series up at one win apiece.
South Africa found themselves on 52 for two before Jacques Kallis (72, 96 balls, 5×4) and AB de Villiers (44, 62 balls, 2×4) put on a 93-run third-wicket partnership off 20.1 overs.
On a pitch that proved difficult to score on boundaries were at a premium and matters did not improve for the South Africans when Kallis chased a wide delivery from Hilfenhaus and got a thick outside edge to be caught by David Hussey at backward point. – SuperSport
