THE death of two women in an accident in Windhoek on Saturday brought the number of deaths on Namibian roads this month to at least 19.
At least 80 people died on the country’s roads over the past festive season.Deputy Commissioner Silvanus Nghishidimbwa yesterday afternoon said the latest accident happened between 18h00 and 19h00 in the Khomasdal residential area next to the Khomas Clinic.According to him, it appears as if the driver of a sedan, travelling towards Khomasdal, lost control over the vehicle and crashed into a Jeep CherokeeThe female driver died on the scene. One of her two passengers died on arrival at the Roman Catholic Hospital while the other one was seriously injured.Nghishidimbwa said the passenger in the Jeep also sustained serious injuries while the driver had minor injuries.The identities of the deceased were not yet known by yesterday, he said.
