SONGWRITERS are asked to put their thinking caps on to compose an ‘Independence song’ as part of this year’s 20th Independence anniversary celebrations.
The Namibian Society of Composers and Authors of Music (Nascam) is running the competition. The winner will be awarded a cash prize, the size of which hasn’t been announced yet.The song should be no longer than one minute, and should focus on the theme ‘One Namibia, One Nation’, Nascam CEO John Max says.’We’re looking for something that can be sung by anyone and which includes everyone,’ Max says.Compositions must be submitted to Nascam’s offices by February 12, after which they will be scrutinised by a committee. Government will own the copyright to the winning song.
