Winehouse’s father, Mitch has revealed plans to set up a foundation in his daughter’s name to help people
I bought Amy Winehouse’s first CD, ‘Frank’ without knowing who she was as she wasn’t famous by then. I loved it and then when she blew up, I was like ‘Duh! Only now y’all get it?’
What can one say on someone’s passing? I guess people all have their time on this planet, and she definitely left her mark. One never knows what troubles a person’s soul, and makes them do what they do. All we can do is appreciate life, and the gifts we are given. Amy came and conquered.’

struggling with addiction. He said the 27-year-old had ‘conquered’ her drug addiction and had been ‘trying hard to deal with her drinking’. He added she had been her happiest ‘for years’ in her final days.
She was cremated on Tuesday.
At the service, Mitch Winehouse read a eulogy that ended with the words: ‘Goodnight, my angel, sleep tight. Mummy and Daddy love you ever so much.’
‘Amy Winehouse is another great artist who died too young like Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison and Janice Joplin. At least Amy had the chance to give great music to the world. I have fond memories of special occasions with her voice in the background. Unfortunately she let herself down, but her music will live on. I personally suffer more from the death of innocent children who never had a chance to shine or sing. War, famine, abuse to name a few.’ – Lize Ehlers
Amy was phenomenal, as an artist she was absolutely amazing. She didn’t have to tell anybody that she was good because her talent was very obvious for everybody to see. She had an absolutely great talent and she still had a great future before her. It was just too unfortunate that she allowed herself to get lost into drugs and alcohol abuse. Her death was a big loss to the music industry. – Sharon van Rooi
I was a big fan of Amy Winehouse and to me she’s not dead because the type of music she did was vintage and such music never dies. Her music will continue to live on. As artists, we should stand up for each other and make it known that drugs are not good. As an artist, you don’t need to be under the influence to drugs or alcohol to give a great show, you can still perform while sober. Stay away from drugs. – Lady May

Amy Winehouse was true to herself and very honest about her life. She was never scared to say that she was an alcoholic but her music content was definitely not youth-friendly. She was a big idol in the eyes of young people and she affected a lot of them through her music. Time and again she would appear in newspapers for the wrong reasons. I was surprised by her death it was indeed a sad day for music. – Adora Kisting
Amy had a great voice, she was very talented and she was very good at what she was doing. She also exposed the vulnerability of the industry to the outside world. She opened up a lot of things to the public like the drug abuse that comes with success. There was an outcry to the public for help andshe did it brilliantly in her music but unfortunately help was not forthcoming. It’s sad she died at such a young age. – Erna Chimu
It’s a very bad and sad way of going. It’s not good if someone dies due to the abuse or misuse of substances such as crack. Perhaps it should be a lesson to us as artists not to go down that road – the road of drugs. – Sally Keya
