PAULUS ‘The Rock’ Ambunda will defend his WBO Africa bantamweight title for the fifth time tomorrow at the Windhoek Country Club.
Ambunda will step into the ring against Tanzanian Emilio Norfat who has a record of 11 wins from 12 fights. Ambunda also has an impressive record, which has him unbeaten after 14 fights.Ambunda was very confident of his chances against the Tanzanian boxer who is based in Kenya.’I am ready for the fight on Saturday, as you know I was recovering from a fractured hand as a result of my fight last year, but now I am ready to defend my title for the fifth time,’ Ambunda said.Ambunda fractured his hand during his fight against Zimbabwean Tawanda Chigwida. He won the fight on an 8th round TKO in November last year.On the same card, Bethuel ‘Tyson’ Uushona will step into the ring against Kenyan Peter Oluoch, in an effort to regain the vacant WBO Interim welterweight Africa title that he was stripped of when he lost to Denton Vassell in March in England.Uushona has a record of 24 fights with only one loss while Oluoch has a record of 10 wins from 15 fights.Uushona said after his loss in England he was going back to his winning ways.’I am ready for business again and I will do as I always do and people should come in big numbers to support the boxers,’ Uushona said.Julius Indongo will also step into the ring against Peter Malakia in a lightweight national title fight.Indongo is still unbeaten after seven fights while Malakia has lost eight of his 17 fights with one draw.Immanuel Naindjala who has eight unbeaten fights under his belt will have a rematch against Zimbabwean Kudakwashe Mwadziwana (6 fights 1 win 5 losses) who he defeated last November by unanimous decision.Tickets are available at the Boxing Control Board for N$200 and the event will start at 18h30.- namibiasport.com.na
