Akito David, who went missing, found dead in a sedan car at Oshakati

A three-year-old boy, Akito David, who went missing from his parents’ house at Oneshila informal settlement at Oshakati, last week Tuesday, was found dead in a locked sedan car in his parents’ neighbours’ yard, late last Thursday afternoon.

Why and how little David got into the car and why he did not get out, is still a mystery. However, some people and the Police think David and some of his friends might have been playing around the broken car, opened it, climbed in, locked it, and could not open it. Because his friends are small kids, they could not tell the parents that their friend is locked in the car.His body was severely decomposed and stories were spread by some who were there when the Police took it out, that the little boy might have been murdered and some of his body parts stolen. Police refuted these allegations because all his body parts were there, they said. They said he might have died quickly because of a lack of oxygen. All the windows and doors were closed and he was only found three days later. The other factor contributing to his severely decomposed body was the very hot weather in the north at this time of the year.David’s parents began looking for him since he went missing on Tuesday afternoon, but could not finn him. They began sending out messages last Thursday via Oshiwambo Radio as well as to other media, including The Namibian, but the same day, late afternoon, David was found dead inside a wrecked car inside their neighbours yard The incident shocked the whole family, relatives, friends and the entire Oshakati, especially the Oneshila informal settlement. A large crowd of Oneshila residents rushed to the neighbours’ house to see what really happened, and how the Police took away little David’s body. Many neighbours were crying as the Police removed his decomposed body from the car. Both Kakinda Fillipus, the mother, and David Immanuel, the father, were so shocked that they had to be rushed to hospital.
