Akan promises better play

RAMBLERS coach Ali Akan admitted that the 2-1 defeat against Blue Waters at the weekend was mainly due to possession they gave away and he aims to improve in that area when his side meets SKW in an MTC Premiership encounter tonight. Kick-off is at 20h00 at the SKW Stadium.

‘We made mistakes by giving the ball away and sometimes we were a bit in a hurry and that cost us the game, but we are looking at giving an improved performance against SKW,’ he said.Akan will be in charge of his third match after he joined Ramblers earlier this round. He won 2-0 against Hotspurs in the first match before falling to Blue Waters last Sunday. ‘The players should not give the ball away because the more possession you have, the more scoring opportunities come your way,’ he said.Ramblers is on ninth spot and have won two and drawn five matches, giving them a total of 11 points from 13 games played.Their opponents are in a better position, as they have won six and drawn three of their 13 matches to date, amassing 21 points in the process. On the SKW match, Akan admitted that they are under pressure and said he will aim at working his way up from the bottom.’We have talented players and I believe that we can work our way up. We have tough matches coming up, but we have to deal with them as they come,’ he said.He said although the side has released some players during this transfer period, he hopes to get a few more to strengthen the respective departments. He also said SKW is a good side which gets good results in most of their matches.
