WINDHOEK – The Namibian Air Force is to introduce a compulsory fitness programme for all its personnel to improve their heath and fitness levels.

Air Force Commander Brigadier-General Martin Pinehas informed his troops during the Air Force’s fifth anniversary celebration at Grootfontein yesterday that the fitness programme will start on July 1 in line with strategic objectives to build an Air Force that is cohesive, healthy and fit. Pinehas said no-one will be exempt and those who fail the fitness programme would be dealt with accordingly.”This will be a monitored fitness programme for all Air Force personnel from top to bottom,” he explained.”Failure to meet standards by any individual member will be seen as a sign of unresponsiveness to military order and discipline,” Pinehas warned. The programme will focus on cardiovascular fitness as well as weight management and all Air Force members who fail to meet the minimum fitness standards would be entered into another get-fit programme.”Like the fitness programme, the weight management programme is to help maintain the efficiency, health and well-being of individual members and present a positive military image to the public,” he said.NampaPinehas said no-one will be exempt and those who fail the fitness programme would be dealt with accordingly.”This will be a monitored fitness programme for all Air Force personnel from top to bottom,” he explained.”Failure to meet standards by any individual member will be seen as a sign of unresponsiveness to military order and discipline,” Pinehas warned. The programme will focus on cardiovascular fitness as well as weight management and all Air Force members who fail to meet the minimum fitness standards would be entered into another get-fit programme.”Like the fitness programme, the weight management programme is to help maintain the efficiency, health and well-being of individual members and present a positive military image to the public,” he said.Nampa
