Africa should work with Europe for ICT development

A TWO-DAY International Multimedia Conference of Future Business and Administration in Africa held in Windhoek recently agreed that African officials and their European counterparts establish a network of information sharing and to support African innovations.

Some of the recommendations drafted at the end of the conference held in Windhoek, included a call by the participants for uniformed administrative systems on all levels of government, that an e-governance strategy be produced in Namibia, setting up of a ministry for Information and Communication Technology (ICT), forge stronger links between the private and public sectors and political sponsorships on African – European level. The conference was held under the theme “From local to Global”.The conference was attended by some 100 decision makers in both the private and public sector from Namibia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Mozambique, Nigeria, Zambia, Finland and Sweden.Part of the objectives of the conference was to make the result of the December 2003 United Nations conference to bring Europe and Southern African countries including Namibia, to real action with combined partnership.A task-team for “From local to global” process for future years was also established and it comprises Theo Schoeman MD Schoeman Office systems, permanent secretary national planning commission Samuel H.
