Africa searches for the best SMME

THE Africagrowth Institute is inviting small, micro and medium (SMME) businesses to enter the third Africa SMME Awards Competition.

The awards, which are organised every year, will acknowledge the vital role SMMEs play in Africa’s development, especially in the area of poverty alleviation.
They seek to recognise outstanding achievements in a range of practices relating to SMMEs operations.
To be eligible, businesses must employ less than the fulltime equivalent of 200 people and have a turnover ranging between N$40 000 and N$10 million.
Companies have to be registered and resident in Africa and have been in active operation for more than two years.
Businesses have to be new and cannot therefore be branches of other businesses. There are six categories SMME can enter.
The awards will take place at a gala evening on October 15 at the Spier Wine Estate outside Stellenbosch, South Africa. The closing date for entries is July 31.
