A Matter of Fact

A Matter of Fact

A COUPLE of extra noughts inadvertently crept into some figures contained in a report on the state of the Hardap Dam, headlined ‘Urgent action called for: Cracks found in Hardap Dam’,published on page 1 of The Namibian on Thursday, February 1

It was said that a report on the condition of the dam warns that if the dam were to break, direct monetary losses of between N$100 000 million and N$150 000 million were to be expected. These figures are in fact between N$100 million and N$150 million.Likewise, indirect monetary losses in the event of a dam break are estimated at between N$500 million and N$750 million, and not between N$500 000 and N$750 000 million as erroneously reported.Lastly, it was reported that the dam’s level at the time an inspection was done in preparation for the report was 4,5 cubic metres below the full supply level. It was, in fact, 4,5 metres below the full supply level.
